Nine of X4 Group’s most adventurous employees tackled the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales in just 22 hours 45 mins over the bank holiday weekend. Covering 35 miles and 11,000 feet of climbing, the courageous bunch climbed Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.

Considered one of Britain’s toughest outdoor challenges this was an extremely fast-paced challenge and one that tested the fitness levels of the people participating to the max!

At the start of Ben Nevis the team’s spirits were high, however shortly into the walk the heat became almost unbearable and many started to struggle. Despite this, everyone rallied through and the whole group summited the mountain together where they enjoyed much cooler temperatures and some unrivalled views of the Scottish Highlands.

As the team moved on to Scafell, stumbling out the mini bus with just a few hours sleep the heat at Ben Nevis was missed as they were greeted with freezing cold rain. Despite the conditions, all nine completed the full climb in under 4hrs and were straight back in the mini bus to Snowdon.

Snowdon was the most enjoyable climb. Loose rocks made for some fantastic scrambling. By this stage, however, most members of the team were struggling with achy joints and sheer fatigue but with the clock ticking down everyone dug deep.  With an hour and a half to spare at the end, they reached the final summit and posed for the obligatory photograph.

Director Peter Rabey comments; “This was a challenge not for the faint hearted. A total of 35 miles walked across 24 hours with over 11,000 feet of climbing along with minimal sleep would be hard enough by itself, but with the ascent of Scafell Pike in the Lake District beginning at 3 am in pitch darkness and the rain pouring down for the first 90 mins of the ascent, many of us had to dig deep to get it done within the 24 hour aim. A truly outstanding effort by all and getting up and down Ben Nevis in just 4 hours 35 mins in bizarrely humid conditions was truly a time to be proud of. Extremely pleased to be part of this incredibly physically and mentally strong group, well done all for completing as well as we did!”

A great effort by all and thoroughly enjoyable trip.
